Symphony847 invites you to Paintings Composed, a one-of-a-kind orchestral experience where the worlds of music and visual art collide. On Saturday, May 23, 2026, our orchestra, led by Music Director Christopher Ramaekers, will bring to life a program inspired by art, imagination, and storytelling through sound.
What You’ll Hear:
- Rachmaninoff – Isle of the Dead: Inspired by Arnold Böcklin’s haunting painting, this symphonic poem transports listeners to a dark, misty island via a 5/8 rowing rhythm, sweeping orchestral textures, and dramatic emotional climaxes.
- Stella Sung – Rockwell Reflections: Five evocative movements inspired by Norman Rockwell’s illustrations, each telling a story through music—ranging from nostalgic Americana to powerful historical moments.
- Mussorgsky / Ravel – Pictures at an Exhibition: A gallery of musical portraits, vividly orchestrated, bringing Victor Hartmann’s drawings to life with texture, color, and drama.
Experience music in a new way—where every note paints a picture, and every composition tells a story.
Special Experience: Elevate your evening with our Date Night with 847 package, including a pre-concert happy hour, a talk with Maestro Ramaekers, and a meet-the-musicians opportunity.
